TURBOTAX ACCOUNT GUIDE

How to enable 2FA on TurboTax

TurboTax uses an Intuit Account. To use authenticator codes, first enable Intuit’s two-step verification, then add the authenticator method in the same account’s security settings.

Turn on Intuit two-step verification

  1. Sign in to your Intuit Account and open Sign in & security.
  2. Under 2-step verification, choose Turn on → Set up.
  3. Confirm your phone number and choose text or voice verification.
  4. Enter the delivered code, confirm your password, and finish the activation prompts.

Add the authenticator method

Return to Sign in & security → Authenticator → Set up authenticator app. Continue to the enrollment information. If you cannot find this option, check that two-step verification is already on.

Add Intuit to Sign In

Use Sign In, our authenticator app, for codes on your iPhone.

  1. If the service displays an enrollment QR code on another screen, open Sign In and tap Add → Scan QR Code.
  2. If it offers a setup key instead, choose Add → Enter Setup Key. Label Service as Intuit and Account with your account name, then paste the secret into Key.
  3. Review the entry and tap Add Account.
  4. Return to Intuit, enter the current code, and complete the confirmation.

Keep the setup key private. If you only have one iPhone and no manual key is offered, open the enrollment page on a second screen.

Keep account recovery available

Maintain access to the email address and phone number listed in your Intuit Account. Intuit’s setup help does not document a printable backup-code set.

If you cannot sign in, follow the official TurboTax account-recovery flow. When your contact information has changed, Intuit may require identity verification.

If a code does not work

Make sure the Intuit entry in Sign In matches the account you are using. Wait for a fresh code, then enter it before it changes. If fresh codes keep failing, check that your iPhone uses automatic date and time.

Keep a working sign-in session and your recovery information available while resolving the problem. Adding an entry to Sign In does not finish enrollment: the service must accept a code and confirm activation.
