TWITCH ACCOUNT GUIDE

How to enable 2FA on Twitch

Twitch’s authenticator setup starts with phone verification by SMS. Use the website for the QR-code flow, and have access to your verified email and mobile number before you begin.

Verify your phone first

  1. Open Twitch’s security settings and choose Set Up Two-Factor Authentication → Enable 2FA.
  2. Enter your mobile number and continue.
  3. Enter the code sent by text to verify the number.
  4. Continue to authenticator setup when the QR code appears.

Twitch’s mobile-app enrollment uses SMS; use the website to add authenticator codes.

Add Twitch to Sign In

You can use Sign In, our authenticator app for codes on your iPhone.

  1. With the setup QR code on another screen, open Sign In and tap Add → Scan QR Code.
  2. Scan the code, review the account details, and tap Add Account.
  3. Enter the current six-digit code on Twitch and choose Submit to finish authenticator enrollment.

If the service offers a setup key, you can enter it manually. Otherwise, use a second screen for the QR code. In Sign In, choose Add → Enter Setup Key, set Service to Twitch and Account to your account name, paste the secret into Key, then tap Add Account. Keep this key private.

Keep the backup number current

SMS remains relevant even when you use an authenticator. Keep access to your registered phone number and review Twitch’s recovery guidance before changing it.

If you lose your authenticator access, try the SMS alternative offered at sign-in. For a lost number, follow the phone-recovery process linked from Twitch’s official help. Its verification provider may need to process the change.

When setup or codes fail

If the initial SMS never arrives, confirm the number, reception, and ability to receive short-code messages. Twitch advises against VoIP numbers. Authenticator setup cannot bypass the initial phone check.

For rejected generated codes, confirm the Twitch entry, use a fresh code, and check automatic date and time on your iPhone.
