Open your Shopify profile security
- In Shopify admin, select your store name, then your profile and Security.
- Under Two-step authentication, choose Turn on two-step.
- Enter your password, choose Next, and select Authenticator app.
The store-name menu may move as Shopify rolls out its refreshed admin design.
Add Shopify to Sign In
You can use Sign In, our authenticator app for codes on your iPhone.
- With the setup QR code on another screen, open Sign In and tap Add → Scan QR Code.
- Scan the code, review the account details, and tap Add Account.
- Enter the current six-digit code in Shopify and choose Turn on.
If the service offers a setup key, you can enter it manually. Otherwise, use a second screen for the QR code. In Sign In, choose Add → Enter Setup Key, set Service to Shopify and Account to your account name, paste the secret into Key, then tap Add Account. Keep this key private.
Save codes and add a backup method
Save the recovery codes before finishing. Store them securely somewhere accessible without your phone. You can also configure an available backup authentication method.
Each user has their own recovery codes. To replace yours, find Recovery methods → Regenerate codes in Security and save the new set.
If you cannot use your authenticator
Use a configured backup method or saved recovery code. If none is available, follow Shopify’s account-recovery process. It can require an identity review before access or sensitive actions are restored.
Passkeys and security keys are other supported ways to secure a Shopify sign-in, subject to your account’s settings.
If a code does not work
Make sure the Shopify entry in Sign In matches the account you are using. Wait for a fresh code, then enter it before it changes. If fresh codes keep failing, check that your iPhone uses automatic date and time.
Keep a working sign-in session and your recovery information available while resolving the problem. Adding an entry to Sign In does not finish enrollment: the service must accept a code and confirm activation.
