Start two-step verification
Sign in to your Best Buy account and open Account Settings → Manage 2-Step Verification. Start enrollment and choose to get codes through an authenticator app.
You can also follow Set up 2-Step Verification now from Best Buy’s official help page below.
Add Best Buy to Sign In
Use Sign In, our authenticator app, for codes on your iPhone.
- If the service displays an enrollment QR code on another screen, open Sign In and tap Add → Scan QR Code.
- If it offers a setup key instead, choose Add → Enter Setup Key. Label Service as Best Buy and Account with your account name, then paste the secret into Key.
- Review the entry and tap Add Account.
- Enter the current code on Best Buy and complete the enrollment prompts.
Keep the setup key private. If you only have one iPhone and no manual key is offered, open the enrollment page on a second screen.
Save the backup codes
Copy the backup codes Best Buy provides and keep them securely outside your phone. Each works once. Best Buy provides a new set when you use all of them.
If you cannot get a verification code and have no usable backup codes, contact Best Buy customer support for account-access help.
SMS and trusted browsers
You can choose text-message codes instead of an authenticator. Keep access to the registered phone number if you use that method.
Best Buy can remember a trusted device and browser. Clearing cookies or changing the browser can trigger verification again. Review trusted devices in Account Settings.
If a code does not work
Make sure the Best Buy entry in Sign In matches the account you are using. Wait for a fresh code, then enter it before it changes. If fresh codes keep failing, check that your iPhone uses automatic date and time.
Keep a working sign-in session and your recovery information available while resolving the problem. Adding an entry to Sign In does not finish enrollment: the service must accept a code and confirm activation.
