SURFSHARK ACCOUNT GUIDE

How to enable 2FA on Surfshark

Add authenticator verification to your Surfshark account and save its recovery codes before finishing. Surfshark signs you out after activation, so have your password and new code entry ready.

Choose authentication-app verification

  1. Sign in on the Surfshark website.
  2. Open Account Settings and choose Edit next to 2FA.
  3. Select Authentication app to display the QR code.

Add Surfshark to Sign In

Use Sign In, our authenticator app to generate codes on your iPhone.

  1. Display the enrollment QR code on another screen.
  2. In Sign In, tap Add → Scan QR Code, scan it, review the details, then tap Add Account.
  3. Enter the current six-digit code in Surfshark, choose Next, download the recovery codes, then select Done.

Keep the QR code private. If you are setting up on one iPhone and no manual setup option is displayed, open the enrollment page on a second screen.

Store the recovery codes separately

Keep the downloaded recovery codes somewhere secure that you can reach without your phone. Each code is usable once.

When your authenticator is unavailable, enter your email and password, then choose Enter a recovery code. Use an unused code to regain access and configure your replacement device. Contact Surfshark Support if no recovery method remains.

Email verification

Surfshark also offers Email Address as a 2FA method. Keep that inbox protected and accessible if you use it. Email-based verification depends on the security of your email account.

If a code does not work

Make sure the Surfshark entry in Sign In matches the account you are using. Wait for a fresh code, then enter it before it changes. If fresh codes keep failing, check that your iPhone uses automatic date and time.

Keep a working sign-in session and your recovery information available while resolving the problem. Adding an entry to Sign In does not finish enrollment: the service must accept a code and confirm activation.
