KRAKEN ACCOUNT GUIDE

How to enable 2FA on Kraken

Kraken has separate two-factor settings for sign-in and other account actions. Start by protecting your sign-in, and keep any Master Key recovery method separate from your everyday authenticator.

Open Kraken Pro security settings

  1. In Kraken Pro, open your profile, then Settings → Security.
  2. Find Sign-in in the 2FA settings. Choose the activation control, or Change method for an existing method.
  3. Select Authenticator app.

Kraken also supports authenticator entries for other actions. Label each clearly so you use the code for the correct request.

Add Kraken to Sign In

You can use Sign In, our authenticator app for codes on your iPhone.

  1. With the setup QR code on another screen, open Sign In and tap Add → Scan QR Code.
  2. Scan the code, review the account details, and tap Add Account.
  3. Enter the current code in Kraken and choose Confirm.

Kraken provides a manual setup key. Label the account clearly, for example with your username and “Sign-in”. In Sign In, choose Add → Enter Setup Key, set Service to Kraken and Account to your account name, paste the secret into Key, then tap Add Account. Keep this key private.

Prepare recovery before losing your phone

Store the authenticator setup key securely outside the phone if you want a recovery copy. An existing alternative sign-in method or Master Key can also help restore access.

A Master Key is a separate security credential. Kraken recommends a different method and device from Sign-in 2FA, such as a separate hardware security key. If no working method remains, choose Recover account at Kraken’s 2FA prompt.

Passkeys and separate account controls

Kraken recommends phishing-resistant passkeys for sign-in. Authenticator codes remain a supported option. Funding and trading verification are separate settings; enabling sign-in verification does not configure them all.

Security-setting changes can require another verification check. Keep existing access until a replacement method is confirmed.

If a code does not work

Make sure the Kraken entry in Sign In matches the account you are using. Wait for a fresh code, then enter it before it changes. If fresh codes keep failing, check that your iPhone uses automatic date and time.

Keep a working sign-in session and your recovery information available while resolving the problem. Adding an entry to Sign In does not finish enrollment: the service must accept a code and confirm activation.
